5 micron - Best for Chlorine, Taste, and Odour reduction

Suited for most Big Blue Jumbo Housings

Carbon Block Cartridges are highly effective at reducing unwanted bad taste & odor and chlorine taste & odor & other contaminants from potable drinking water.

Activated carbon filters use a process called adsorption to filter out unwanted compounds from your water. Adsorption is when a solid substance attracts other molecules to its surface. Carbon bonds easily and strongly to other chemicals.  A good way to describe it is that it acts like a magnet to unwanted compounds in the water, a process called chemical adsorption.

Carbon filters use chemical and physical adsorption. Neutral molecules in water stick to each other through weak electric forces. Carbon has a strong attraction that pulls out non-water molecules.

Carbon Block Water Filters (CBC) offer several benefits in water filtration. Here are some key advantages of using carbon block filters:

  1. Effective Contaminant Removal: Carbon block filters are highly efficient at removing a wide range of contaminants from water. The densely packed carbon block provides a larger surface area for contact with water, allowing for effective adsorption and filtration of impurities. They can remove or reduce chlorine, chloramine, VOCs, pesticides, herbicides, sediment, bad taste, and odor, providing cleaner and better-tasting water.

  2. Improved Taste and Odor: One of the significant benefits of carbon block filters is their ability to enhance the taste and odor of water. The activated carbon material in the filter removes unpleasant tastes and smells caused by chlorine, organic compounds, and other contaminants, resulting in fresher and more enjoyable drinking water.

  3. Reduction of Chlorine and Chloramine: Carbon block filters effectively reduce chlorine and chloramine levels in water. Chlorine is commonly used as a disinfectant in water treatment, while chloramine is an alternative disinfectant. Both can impart an unpleasant taste and odor to water, and carbon block filters can effectively remove them.

  4. Sediment and Particulate Filtration: Carbon block filters also have the ability to capture sediment, rust, sand, and other suspended particles in the water. While they may not provide the same level of filtration as dedicated sediment filters, carbon block filters help improve water clarity by reducing particulate matter.

  5. Longevity and Flow Rate: Carbon block filters typically have a longer lifespan compared to granular activated carbon (GAC) filters. The solid carbon block construction allows for better filtration efficiency and prevents channeling or bypassing of water, resulting in longer filter life. Additionally, carbon block filters generally maintain a higher flow rate, ensuring a sufficient supply of filtered water.

  6. Easy Installation and Maintenance: Carbon block filters are usually designed for easy installation in standard filter housings. They are compatible with various point-of-use and point-of-entry systems. Maintenance involves periodic replacement of the filter cartridge, which can be done quickly and easily.

When choosing a carbon block water filter, consider factors such as micron rating, filter capacity, and certifications to ensure it meets your specific water quality requirements. Regular replacement of the filter cartridge is essential to maintain optimal filtration performance.

Construction

The construction of these high-quality filters consists of carbon block which has been manufactured in accordance with strict and controlled engineering processes. Advanced techniques and materials of the highest quality guarantee excellent durability minimal pressure loss and a high flow rate. Activated carbon is high-efficiency carbon that maximizes filtration effectiveness. The external polyethylene netting ensures that the carbon block is held firmly whilst the internal layer ensures that minimal carbon fines are released. The end cap is made of durable polypropylene which enables a secure fit.
