How to Remove Fluoride from Tap Water?

Topic

There is a lot of controversy at the moment around Fluoride being added to our water. Is it safe? can we remove it?

Water fluoridation is the process of adjusting the natural level of fluoride in the water supply to between 0.7 ppm and 1.0 ppm. This is the optimal amount that provides protection against tooth decay, and is recommended by the World Health Organization.

Your Choice?

When it comes to the question of personal choice and how you can remove fluoride water treatment from your home drinking taps/faucets. There are easy solutions without costing you second mortgage.

Your Options?

Option 1  Water Distillers

Distilled water never contains fluoride as the distillation process effectively removes fluoride and a host of other contaminants that are harmful to your health. In fact, water distillation is so effective that the process is capable of removing just about anything from water.

Our Mega Home water distiller is as simple as filling it up with tap water, plugging it, switch on, &  let the natural process begin. The process is like  that of nature, through the evaporation process toxins and chemicals are left behind.

Pros

  • Pure clean drinking water just like nature intended
  • Portable to take it anywhere.
  • Price $$
  • You will no longer need to buy bottled water, reducing your carbon footprint and plastic pollution

Cons:

  • Cleaning & maintenance
  • Noise of the machine

Option 2 - Reverse Osmosis (RO)

Reverse Osmosis (RO) can help remove fluoride from the water supply effectively because its molecules are larger than the molecules of water. RO system not only removes fluoride but other contaminants from water.

What is Reverse Osmosis

Reverse osmosis the ultimate in water purification. Water pressure pushes against a semi-permeable membrane. The membrane allows water molecules through while impurities are flushed down the drain. This means that it is very effective in dealing with even the most difficult contaminants, including Nitrate, Arsenic, Fluoride, Salt and many others.

Are Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration Systems for Fluoride?

The amount of fluoride and other contaminants that the reverse osmosis system removes from the water feed depends on the quality of its membrane. But in general, a regular RO system membrane works best for fluoride filtration. It can remove nearly 80% to 90% fluoride from your drinking water. This is why reverse osmosis systems are ideal for those who specifically want to remove fluoride and other contaminants from water.

Pro #1 RO is the very best in domestic undersink filtration and purification

Pro #2 Ultra Clean, Safe, Pure Water on tap for the whole family

Pro #3 Tea and Coffee will infuse better and have improved flavour

Pro #4 Noticeably better tasting drinking water

Pro #5 Small designs for under sink use

Pro #6 A separate lead free drinking tap keeps the water safe all the way to delivery

Pro #7 You will no longer need to buy bottled water, reducing your carbon footprint and plastic pollution

Note: Some RO units have a remineralizer filter so you’ll get healthy amounts of calcium, magnesium and potassium for optimally alkaline, pH balanced water

Con #1 Wastage of Water

The average ratio of wastewater to filtered water in the RO system is 3:1, respectively. This makes the reverse osmosis system not the most environmentally friendly and economical choice. While some RO systems have a slightly low ratio of wastewater to filtered water, you won’t find any without any wastewater.

Con #2 Needs Regular Maintenance

Regular RO systems have 3 to 4 filtration stages for treating water. It means it requires three to four types of filters having different life spans. So you regularly need to change the filter membranes to keep the system working correctly and efficiently.

Con #3 Removes Even Healthy Minerals

Reverse Osmosis filtration not just targets fluoride molecules but also removes other minerals that are healthy for you, such as magnesium and calcium.
If you want to remove excess fluoride from your water supply, a reverse osmosis system is the right choice

Note: Some RO units have a remineralizer filter so you’ll get healthy amounts of calcium, magnesium and potassium for optimally alkaline, pH balanced water.
